Inside the Kamakura Buddha by Wallace Gagne A heavy drinker and red meat eater, Wallace Gagne was born in Vancourver in 1943 but forced into internal exile in Calgary during the brass monkey winter of 1951. After graduating from the University of Calgary in 1965, he received his docrate in political science from the University of Rochester in 1970. A disastrous academic career at McMaster and Simon Fraser combined with an unfortunate first marriage sent him underground to Mendocino, California, from whence he exiled himself to Japan to study aikido and teach English. These poems are a distillation of his Asian experiences and his political sympathies. ISBN 1-895666-12-0 Printed Matter Press |
